3 Habits That Double Your Fat Loss
1. Add a safety margin
As the first of three habits that double your fat loss, Tomic cites the example of an engineer building bridges. Suppose a bridge can handle 5000 tons of weight, but typically that bridge is exposed to 4500 tons. “What if the material deteriorates over time, what if an accident happens and he needs 500 tons or he needs 600 tons, the bridge will collapse.”
In this case, a clever engineer would build a bridge that can handle 20,000 tons of weight and be able to face any adversity. This mindset should also be applied to diet.
There are many calorie sources that you may not have considered, which can greatly delay your results.
The food packaging industry is not forced to display the exact calories of a meal when buying something in a supermarket. At the end of the week it will be totaled. Similar thoughts arise when eating out, when you don’t know exactly how many calories you’re taking in.
To tackle this, overestimate calories when eating out (about 30%), replace packaged foods with whole foods, and improve dietary management.
2. Take advantage of the 1/60 rule
The concept comes from aviation, where a 1 degree deviation in heading equals a 1 mile deviation for 60 miles traveled.
The same idea can be applied when trying to lose weight. Divide your day into four parts: morning, noon, noon and night. Even if you miss one of the quarters, you can still make it through 3/4 of the day and make it a success. You can also shift that focus each week, and if one day is bad for your diet, you can switch it back on another six days.
3. Beyond the Diet
Tomic says most problems when trying to lose weight aren’t caused by diet, but by external things that affect diet. You become unthinkable and start making bad decisions with your old eating habits. Another example is lack of sleep, which hinders muscle building and weight loss.
