5 Hamstring Exercises for Great Legs
1.B Stand RDL
Start this Romanian Deadlift variation on your non-dominant leg. This will determine how many reps you should do on your dominant leg.
Keep one knee soft or don’t lock out and keep your back straight while deadlifting the dumbbell. Keep the tempo slow and mind-muscle connection.
2. Sliding floor curl
This exercise uses your body weight to improve hamstring strength. All you need is a towel, a piece of paper or a piece of furniture to move, and a slippery floor.
Start in the bridge position, keeping your spine straight and in a reverse plank position, focusing on bringing your heels closer to your buttocks so your back doesn’t touch the floor.
3. Nordic curls
According to Stern, it’s the number one exercise for hamstring enlargement, which is why it’s featured on our list of 5 exercises for great legs.

Try to slowly lower your body to the ground. This is a killer exercise for your hamstrings.
4. Hanging dumbbell leg curl
As the name suggests, you curl dumbbells with your legs while hanging from a pull-up bar.
It may sound easy, but you’ll quickly see how difficult this exercise is, so take it easy.
5. Reverse hyper extension
If a reverse extension machine isn’t available, an adjustable bench, swiss ball, or sofa can be used.
“For this exercise, you want to focus on pressing your hip bone into the pad and lifting your leg as evenly as possible,” explains Stern.
